Machines for Living In was commissioned by the Barbican Centre in response to the Barbican Archives. The work combines elements of archive footage, shot footage, collage and text, exploring the parallels between architecture and the human body. The film considers how the Barbican has been represented together with how the life that has passed through it has been recorded and archived, such as through the itemised documentation of lost property, accidents and thefts. The work is accompanied by a series of collages, exploring the parallels between anatomy and architecture.
