Action Collage: making and re-making the ever-evolving body of work, Lee Krasner: Living Colour Community View (2019)

10th June 2019

Barbican Centre, London

Collaborative collage-making workshop created in response to the Barbican Art Gallery’s exhibition Lee Krasner: Living Colour for a range of community groups. Drawing on Lee Krasner’s method of using her past artwork from her training in representational drawing to create new abstract work, participants were invited to create their own portraits or figure drawings and use these to create new collage works using a range of materials. Through this process, participants were invited to question not only how to represent themselves in terms of what they look like, but also how they might represent themselves more fully through this abstract approach. At the end of this process, participants had the option of adding their abstract portrait to a large group portrait in the space.
