The Magic Moment revisits a project completed in 2012 exploring the enduring effects of loss and the anxiety of preserving memory. The film combines elements of this project with still images, archive footage and recorded performance. The work contrasts displays of deep emotion that may seem hyperbolic or even comic at times with moments of quiet contemplation. The assemblage, or re-assemblage, used to make this work further assesses the process of restructuring and reconfiguring that continuously occurs when we process memory and trauma.
